SmartFrame Technologies has appointed adtech and programmatic advertising executive Dal Gill as its Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), as the company looks to accelerate global growth and expand its commercial operations.
The appointment comes as SmartFrame continues to scale its recently launched SmartFrame Images platform, which provides publishers access to more than 55 million rights-cleared editorial images that can be embedded free of charge while creating contextual advertising opportunities for brands.
Gill will be responsible for driving revenue growth, strengthening relationships with brands, agencies and publishers, and expanding the company’s contextual advertising business worldwide.
He brings more than 15 years of experience in digital media, adtech and programmatic advertising, having held senior leadership roles at Spotify, Seedtag, Yahoo and Mail Metro Media.
At Spotify, Gill helped launch and expand the company’s programmatic advertising business across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Asia-Pacific region. He later served as Global Head of Programmatic at Seedtag, where he played a key role in the company’s growth and international expansion, including its entry into the Middle East.
Commenting on his appointment, Gill said:
“The digital advertising industry is entering a new era. As privacy expectations increase and AI-generated content floods the internet, advertisers are looking for trusted environments, authentic content and meaningful consumer attention.
SmartFrame is uniquely positioned at the intersection of these trends. The business has built a platform that combines premium publisher environments, authentic editorial imagery and privacy-first advertising technology in a way that genuinely stands apart from the market.
The foundations are firmly in place. My focus now is on accelerating growth, expanding our commercial footprint and ensuring more brands, agencies and publishers can benefit from what SmartFrame has built.”
SmartFrame said the appointment reflects its ambition to strengthen its position in the growing contextual advertising market as advertisers increasingly seek privacy-focused alternatives to behavioural targeting.
Rob Sewell, CEO and Co-Founder of SmartFrame Technologies, said:
“Since launching SmartFrame Images, we’ve seen significant growth across our publisher network, image streaming ecosystem and audience reach.
The opportunity in front of us is substantial. We are building a business that sits at the intersection of publishing, advertising, content ownership and contextual intelligence. As we enter this next chapter, we wanted a commercial leader who understands how to scale ambitious adtech businesses globally.
Dal has done exactly that throughout his career. His track record, industry reputation and deep understanding of the contextual advertising market make him the ideal person to help drive SmartFrame’s next stage of growth.”
The company said it plans to further expand its image-streaming network, increase publisher adoption, strengthen advertiser partnerships and pursue international growth throughout 2026 and beyond.
