Netflix on Thursday rolled out a redesigned mobile app featuring a new vertical video feed called “Clips,” as the streaming giant seeks to make it easier for users to discover shows, films and other content on their smartphones.

The update, available from Thursday in the United States, Britain, Australia, Canada, India, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines and South Africa, marks Netflix’s latest push to deepen engagement on mobile devices, an increasingly important platform for the company. A broader global rollout is planned in the coming months.

Clips offers a personalized stream of short videos from Netflix series, films and specials, allowing users to browse recommendations in a vertical, swipeable format similar to popular social media feeds. From the feed, users can add titles to their watch list, share clips via messaging or social media, or navigate directly to a show’s page.

The new feature is part of a wider redesign aimed at simplifying navigation and improving content discovery during shorter viewing sessions, such as commutes or breaks. Netflix said the revamped interface is intended to make its mobile app faster, easier and more engaging to use.

“Mobile is an important part of how Netflix members stay connected to the entertainment they love,” said Elizabeth Stone, Netflix’s chief product and technology officer. She said the company aims to create a more personalized and immersive mobile experience tailored to users’ moods and moments.

Netflix said Clips will eventually expand beyond video previews to include podcasts, live programming and curated collections organized by genre or user interests, broadening the app’s role as a discovery platform.

The overhaul follows Netflix’s redesign of its television interface last year, its first major TV update in more than a decade, as the company adapts its products to changing viewing habits and intensifying competition for consumers’ attention.
