The Saudi Journalists Association welcomes Faisal J. Abbas as its Deputy Chairman, anticipating his invaluable contributions to advancing journalism in the Kingdom and beyond. This achievement came as part of the “Future” coalition’s landslide victory on January 28, 2024.
Under Abbas's leadership since 2016, Arab News has undergone a remarkable transformation, transitioning from a national newspaper to an international news brand. His oversight led to the newspaper's comprehensive restructuring and digital transformation, resulting in a multi-language, globally recognized platform.
Before his tenure at Arab News, Abbas contributed to several leading media outlets including Future Television, Al Hayat, and Asharq Al Awsat pan-Arab dailies, and was the Editor-in-Chief of the English language service at Al Arabiya News Channel in Dubai.
An active member of the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders (YGL) community and the British Society of Authors (SoA), Abbas has also served on the advisory board of Al Arabiya News Channel in Dubai.
As a regular speaker at forums like the Misk Global Forum, Arab Media Forum, Japan’s G1 annual conference, Aspen Institute Italia, and Chatham House, Abbas continues to be a pivotal figure in shaping the discourse in media and journalism, both regionally and globally.
Abbas earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing from the Lebanese American University (LAU) in 2003 and a master's in marketing communications from the University of Westminster in London in 2009. His academic prowess was further enhanced by receiving the Public Leadership Credential from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in 2019.
