Fifteen-year-old Saudi youth leader and podcaster Rateel Alshehri has become one of the most talked-about online personalities of 2026 after her acceptance speech at Saudi Arabia’s Joy Awards amassed more than 94 million views across social media platforms, according to figures released on Friday.
Alshehri, who was named the youngest-ever winner of the “Favorite Female Influencer” award at the entertainment ceremony, delivered a speech focused on youth empowerment, confidence and social change that rapidly spread across TikTok, Instagram and other platforms.
Organizers said clips of the speech generated more than 12 million likes, 3 million shares and 1 million comments globally, making it one of the year’s biggest viral moments originating from the Middle East.
The speech, delivered in Jeddah during the annual Joy Awards gala, resonated strongly with younger audiences, particularly members of Generation Alpha, who widely shared excerpts online.
“I’m young… I don’t understand… So, why am I standing here?” Alshehri said during the address, before answering her own question with the line: “I am here because I refused to mind my own business.”
The remarks quickly circulated online, with users reposting clips and quoting passages across social media channels.
Alshehri also rejected what she described as the conventional humility often expected in acceptance speeches.
“I could stand here and say ‘I didn’t expect this.’ But I won’t. Because honestly? I did. That isn’t arrogance. It’s confidence,” she told the audience.
Her closing statement — “Gen Alpha… a generation that creates, not follows” — became a widely shared slogan online, appearing in reposted videos, captions and reaction clips.
During the speech, Alshehri also addressed Turki Al-Sheikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority and an adviser at the Royal Court with the rank of minister, thanking him for his support and referring to him as “Uncle Turki.”
Beyond the awards ceremony, another widely circulated moment from the event featured Alshehri taking a selfie during the gala, with videos of the interaction drawing millions of additional views online.
Alshehri has built a growing profile in Saudi Arabia through public speaking appearances and initiatives, including the “Rateel Alpha Talk” podcast, where she discusses youth issues and social impact.
In her closing remarks at the ceremony, she encouraged young people to speak up despite their age.
“I want this to be a message for every young person who doubts their ability to make an impact,” she said. “Your age is exactly why your voice matters.”
Her rapid rise reflects the growing influence of young digital creators in Saudi Arabia and across the Arab world, where social media platforms increasingly shape popular culture and public conversation.
