UAE Economy and Tourism Minister Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri visited a Carrefour distribution centre to review food supplies, procurement systems and stock levels as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to ensure market stability and food security.
The facility, operated by Majid Al Futtaim, the exclusive Carrefour franchisee in the region, was inspected to assess logistics operations, inventory management and food safety procedures. Senior company executives, including CEO Ahmed Galal Ismail, accompanied the minister during the visit.
Officials examined shipment handling, quality checks, storage systems and the management of fresh and essential goods. The review comes amid heightened monitoring of supply chains by authorities to ensure the uninterrupted availability of key commodities.
Bin Touq said retail markets across the UAE remain adequately supplied.
“Retail outlets in the country’s markets are fully stocked with an abundance of goods and products,” he said during the visit.
Authorities said the country’s supply chains remain resilient due to diversified sourcing strategies and strong logistics networks. The availability of alternative suppliers is also helping maintain price stability and reduce pressure on essential goods, the minister noted.
He added that procurement and distribution operations at Carrefour’s facility reflect a high level of preparedness in maintaining national food reserves.
The visit also included discussions between government officials and Majid Al Futtaim executives on improving supply chain efficiency, digital ordering systems and partnerships with local suppliers to strengthen resilience.
Bin Touq highlighted the importance of major distribution hubs in maintaining stable markets and ensuring the smooth flow of goods, reinforcing the UAE’s role as a regional food trade and logistics hub.
Majid Al Futtaim said Carrefour continues to focus on maintaining steady supplies across its store network.
“Our teams continue to work around the clock to ensure the availability of essential goods in sufficient quantities across all Carrefour stores nationwide,” said Ahmed Galal Ismail.
Officials said the Ministry of Economy and Tourism is also using data monitoring and continuous oversight to anticipate supply disruptions and maintain price stability.
The minister also interacted with operational staff during the visit, acknowledging their role in ensuring the steady availability of essential goods and stressing the importance of continued coordination across the supply chain to support the UAE’s food security goals.
