Pinterest expands Amazon storefront integration for creators

Pinterest has expanded its partnership with Amazon by introducing a new feature that allows creators to link their Amazon Storefronts directly with Pinterest, making product discovery and affiliate monetisation easier on the platform.

The integration is available to creators enrolled in the Amazon Influencer Program. Once connected, their Amazon Storefronts can be attached to Pinterest business accounts, and eligible Amazon products tagged in Pins will automatically carry affiliate links. Pinterest said the connected Storefront will also appear on creators’ profiles, offering users a broader catalogue of recommended products beyond individual Pins or Boards.

The move builds on the growing collaboration between the two companies. In 2023, Pinterest and Amazon signed a multi-year advertising partnership that made Amazon the first third-party ad partner on the platform. Pinterest later entered a similar agreement with Google as part of its efforts to strengthen monetisation and expand its shopping-focused ecosystem.

Pinterest has been steadily positioning itself as a discovery-driven shopping platform, with the company stating that more than half of its users come to the platform with purchase intent. It also processes over 80 billion searches each month, underscoring its scale as a product discovery engine.

Alongside the Storefront integration, users can also link personal Amazon accounts to Pinterest, enabling access to real-time pricing, delivery estimates and product details on selected ads. Purchases can be completed through Amazon without leaving the app.

The development comes as Pinterest competes with other social platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and YouTube for creator-led commerce and affiliate-driven shopping traffic. At the same time, the platform has faced criticism over a rise in AI-generated content, prompting efforts to improve content quality and user experience.

By deepening its integration with Amazon’s affiliate ecosystem, Pinterest is strengthening its focus on creator-led commerce and product discovery, with plans to expand similar storefront partnerships in the future.
