Meta Platforms is rolling out subscription offerings globally for Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp while expanding tests of paid tools for creators, businesses and users of its artificial intelligence products, according to reports from Emirates News Agency (WAM) and MediaPost.
The company said consumers subscribing to Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus or WhatsApp Plus would gain access to additional features including profile customization, “Super Likes,” “Super Hearts,” story insights, audience lists and related features.
Meta’s head of product Naomi Gleit said in an announcement that additional features would be added to the subscription offerings over time, according to WAM.
The company said the new “Plus” subscriptions are tailored to each platform, with Facebook Plus and Instagram Plus focused more on social expression, while WhatsApp Plus centers on personalization and messaging features.
Meta said the offerings would operate separately from Meta Verified, the company’s existing subscription service focused on account verification, impersonation protection and customer support.
AI and creator subscription testing
Alongside the consumer rollout, Meta is also testing a broader subscription ecosystem under the “Meta One” brand, according to MediaPost.
The company plans to introduce AI-focused subscription plans for Meta AI users as well as new professional offerings for creators and businesses.
MediaPost reported that Meta AI subscription testing would begin next month in Singapore, Guatemala and Bolivia. The plans include a “Plus” tier priced at $7.99 per month and a “Premium” tier priced at $19.99 per month.
According to the report, the Premium offering includes expanded AI capabilities powered more heavily by what Meta describes as its AI “thinking mode,” while additional AI glasses functionality is expected in the coming weeks.
Meta also plans to begin testing creator and business-focused subscription offerings in Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Thailand and Bangladesh next week, MediaPost reported.
The offerings include a Meta One Essential plan priced at $14.99 per month and a Meta One Advanced plan priced at $49.99 per month.
MediaPost said the Essential package would include a Verified badge, impersonation protection and related account services, while the Advanced tier would provide additional promotional and analytics tools.
According to the report, Advanced subscribers would be able to prioritize posts in Facebook feeds and Instagram search results, enhance “Follow” buttons on Reels, send automated invitations to engaged users and add website and shop links through feed posts.
The higher-priced tier would also include scheduling tools, moderator crossover capabilities and alerts when subscriber content is reused, the report said.
Subscription revenue focus
Meta initially previewed expanded subscription offerings in January, according to MediaPost, which said social media companies have increasingly explored subscriptions to diversify revenue beyond advertising.
MediaPost reported that Meta generated $885 million in first-quarter revenue from WhatsApp paid messaging and other app subscriptions.
The publication also reported that Meta’s overall revenue rose 33% year over year in the first quarter of 2026, while the company expects increased spending on artificial intelligence development during the year.
