Lebanon’s Annahar Media Group has launched Nahar, its first artificial intelligence-powered news correspondent, as part of its efforts to modernize newsroom operations through AI-driven technology.

The AI journalist is designed to assist editorial teams by scanning thousands of information sources within seconds, tracking global developments, comparing information, translating content, and summarizing reports and documents. It is also intended to help journalists gather data and identify story leads more efficiently.

The initiative forms part of Annahar’s broader strategy to integrate artificial intelligence into its daily newsroom workflow while maintaining human editorial oversight. The media group said the technology is meant to support journalists by improving efficiency and productivity, with editors retaining responsibility for verification, accuracy, and all final editorial decisions.

The project was developed in partnership with Points Information Technology. According to the companies, the AI system is designed to handle time-consuming research and information-gathering tasks, allowing journalists to devote more attention to reporting, analysis, and storytelling.

The launch marks the latest step in Annahar’s digital transformation as the Lebanese media organization expands the use of AI tools to support, rather than replace, its newsroom staff.
