IMI, a privately owned global media group headquartered in the United Arab Emirates, has appointed Karim Ben Salah as Chief Investment Officer, the company said on Tuesday, as it seeks to expand its global footprint through investments and transactions.

The appointment follows recent activity by IMI’s investment arm, including an agreement between RedBird IMI and Banijay Group to combine Banijay Entertainment with All3Media to form what the companies described as the world’s largest independent production group.

Karim, an investment and strategy executive with more than 25 years of experience across private equity, mergers and acquisitions and corporate strategy, previously served as Head of Investments at MBC Group. In that role, he led the company’s debut on the Saudi Stock Exchange and oversaw investment strategy, M&A activity and joint venture development, while advising senior leadership and the board on key transactions.

“I am honoured to join IMI at such an exciting stage in its growth,” Karim said, adding he aims to support expansion through investments, partnerships and global opportunities.

At IMI, he will lead the group’s investment strategy and work with Director of Investment Rihab Jalal to advance investment activities across media, entertainment and sport.

A privately owned media conglomerate based in Abu Dhabi, IMI operates across 15 countries and oversees brands including The National, Sky News Arabia and CNN Business Arabic, alongside investments in ventures spanning content, events and media production.
