IMI said on Monday it had appointed Nakhle Elhage as Chief Transformation Officer, as the privately owned media group moves to develop its core platforms.

Elhage brings more than three decades of experience in the Arab media industry, the company said in a statement. He was a founding member of MBC Group and played a role in the launch of Al Arabiya, where he served as Director of News and Current Affairs for more than 16 years.

His career has been linked to the development of modern Arabic news, including editorial standards, newsroom structures and audience engagement, the statement said. Most recently, he founded blinx, described as a digital-first storytelling platform.

“I am delighted to join IMI at such a pivotal moment in its growth,” Elhage said in the statement. “The group’s ambition, scale, and commitment to innovation create a strong foundation for transformation.”

At IMI, Elhage will oversee the transformation of its core platforms — Sky News Arabia, CNN Business Arabic and Al Ain News — with responsibility spanning editorial direction, content, talent, production and product development.

The company said the role would focus on improving performance and strengthening the position of each platform in its respective market.

The transformation will include changes to how IMI’s platforms engage audiences across linear and digital environments, with an emphasis on more distinctive formats, stronger analysis and content aligned with evolving audience expectations, the statement said.
