Google Gemini becomes technology sponsor of Iraq, Morocco national football teams

Google Gemini has signed a sponsorship agreement with the national football teams of Iraq and Morocco, aiming to use artificial intelligence to enhance fan engagement and modernize the football experience in the region.

Announced on Tuesday in Dubai, the partnership names Gemini as the official technology sponsor of both national teams. Google said the collaboration will combine AI-powered tools with the region’s strong football culture to create more interactive and immersive experiences for supporters.

Under the agreement, fans will be able to use Gemini’s AI capabilities to generate custom football-themed visuals, create team anthems, and access interactive football insights. The initiative will include a series of fan-focused activations scheduled to roll out over the next three months.

Google said supporters can use Gemini’s text-to-image model, Nano Banana, to design cheering visuals and employ its text-to-music model, Lyria, to compose football chants and songs inspired by their teams.

The company added that Gemini would also help fans better understand football tactics and rules, analyze match performances, and predict potential winners through AI-powered insights.

According to Google, the sponsorship reflects its broader commitment to supporting football communities across the Arab world while making sports experiences more accessible and engaging through technology.

The partnership comes as technology companies increasingly seek to integrate generative AI tools into sports entertainment and fan engagement strategies globally.
