The Family in Frame Award, launched by Majalis Abu Dhabi in the Citizens and Community Affairs Office of the Presidential Court in collaboration with Creative Lab, has announced its judging panel, bringing together voices in photography, media and visual storytelling.
The panel reflects a balance of international perspective and regional expertise, with a shared focus on storytelling and imagery capturing human connection.
The judging panel includes:
Ranald Mackechnie, a British photographer known for his work with the British Royal Family, whose portfolio includes portraits of UAE leaders and global personalities, including David Beckham. He will serve as final judge.
Khalid Alhashimi, an Emirati photographer and strategic advisor with more than two decades of experience across media, culture and community.
Hind Al Raeesi, an Emirati sports photographer and Sony Middle East ambassador.
Abdullah Al Braiki, a photographer specialising in portrait and landscape work.
Mohamed Somji, a portrait photographer focusing on visual style and human expression.
The panel will evaluate submissions based on creativity, relevance and quality, selecting works that capture family life and values, including connection, belonging and shared experience.
Salwa Al Hadhrami, Head of Creative Content and Creative Community Projects at the Creative Media Authority, said the panel reflects diverse perspectives and a shared appreciation for storytelling.
“The strength of this judging panel lies in its diversity of perspectives and its shared appreciation for authentic storytelling,” she said. “Through the Family in Frame Award, we are not only celebrating creativity but also creating a platform for individuals and families to capture and share meaningful moments that show who we are as a society.”
Launched as part of the UAE’s Year of the Family, the award invites communities across the UAE to capture moments celebrating family life.
Submissions are open until May 29, 2026, with winners to be announced on June 15, 2026. Selected works will be showcased during Eid Al Etihad 2026 as part of an exhibition on creative expression and community participation.
