At Twitter’s Analyst Day conference yesterday, Kevin Weil, VP of product announced upcoming product improvements to Twitter in the coming months. The blog post summarizing the announcement points to four key areas of improvement.
Native video
Aside from just watching video more easily, users will be able to record, edit and share their own videos natively on the platform. This feature is expected be rolled out in the first half of next year.
Surface relevant tweets
With over 500 million tweets published every day, it’s easy for the most active Twitter users to miss tweets relevant to them. That’s why Twitter is exploring ways to surface relevant tweets you may have missed, while preserving what the platform is best known for – its real time nature.
Personalized timeline
Twitter users only see content from accounts they follow but new users might not want to spend time creating and curating their own list. It is for these users that Twitter is working on an instant, personalized timeline.
Direct messages
While direct messages were always private, Twitter is now making it even easier to make public conversations private such as the ability share and discuss tweets natively and privately via Direct Messages. This will feature will begin rolling out next week.
