Brightcove Inc., a global provider of cloud services for online video, has announced that Alarab TV, an all-Arabic 24-hour news channel launched by Saudi businessman Prince Alwaleed bin Talal in Bahrain, has chosen Brightcove to power its online video solution and help create a digital identity for the channel.
Alarab TV will provide millions of viewers across the Middle East with regional and global news. The channel’s format includes investigative reports and analysis, financial and economic programming, and debates and discussion shows, incorporating a wide range of powerful video experiences.
Alarab selected Brightcove’s Video Cloud platform to provide video experiences for viewers across multiple devices and platforms, as it believes that video cloud will help cement Alarab’s digital presence, engage the region’s youth and stimulate real-time, thought-provoking debate on the most pressing issues of the day.
“As we reach out to a new generation of viewers, we believe digital content is one of the most important aspects of news broadcasting,” says Fahad Mohammed Al Sukait, chairman and CEO, Alarab News Channel and CEO, Rotana Group in a press statement. “With Brightcove’s experience in the region and knowledge of the digital broadcast space, we will be able to offer our users a unique viewing experience that complements the traditional broadcast model.”
“The partnership with Alarab confirms our belief that the online video market in the Middle East is gaining momentum and supporting the regional broadcast industry as it adapts to changing viewership patterns,” adds Sue Thexton, senior VP – EMEA at Brightcove. “We are excited to partner with Alarab TV and support its new online channel.”
