Buy now, pay later platform Tabby has apologised after mistakenly sending an email informing thousands of customers that they had won an Emirates flight voucher.
The promotional email, sent on Friday, told recipients they were “one of the lucky Tabby Visa Card raffle winners” and had won an AED5,000 Emirates flight voucher. It asked customers to submit their delivery details to receive the prize.
However, about an hour later, the company sent a follow-up email acknowledging that the message had been sent by mistake.
“We made a mistake with our last email,” Tabby said in the correction.
The company admitted that the earlier notification “was sent in error” and apologised to customers for the confusion.
“We know how it feels to be told good news and then have it taken back, and we take full responsibility for getting your hopes up,” the company said.
Tabby also assured customers who had already shared their addresses that their information would not be used.
The company said the data “has not been used for anything” and would be deleted.
The mistaken email had informed recipients that they had won an Emirates voucher through a Tabby Visa Card raffle and instructed them to provide their delivery details to claim the prize.
The company moved quickly to issue the correction, taking responsibility for the error and apologising to affected customers.
