Swiss watchmaker OMEGA welcomed guests to an exclusive event at its boutique in The Dubai Mall, celebrating nearly seven decades of the Speedmaster collection and unveiling its updated Speedmaster 38 mm collection.
The event featured an immersive exhibition tracing the Speedmaster’s journey from its Earth-bound origins to its role in space and Moon exploration. Defining models from the collection were displayed, highlighting the evolution of its design language across case architecture and dial aesthetics.
The evening culminated in a first look at OMEGA’s latest Speedmaster 38 mm collection, with guests among the first in the region to view seven new references bringing the 38 mm line closer to the look of the legendary Moonwatch.
The updated collection features rounded subdials replacing the previous oval layout, reduced dial text for a streamlined look, and thicker bezels featuring the Dot-Over-Ninety (DON) associated with Moonwatch heritage. The watches are presented on a five-link Moonwatch-style bracelet with alternating polished and brushed central links, depending on the reference.
The collection is powered by two self-winding Co-Axial movements. Calibre 3330 powers six date-display references, while Calibre 3332 drives a no-date, black-dial reference.
“The Speedmaster 38 mm has always taken its cues from the Moonwatch, while keeping size, colour, and simplicity in mind,” said Raynald Aeschlimann, president and CEO of OMEGA.
“With this latest update, we’ve taken the Moonwatch inspiration even further, enriching the Speedmaster DNA while retaining the refined nature that the 38 mm range is known for.”
The event forms part of OMEGA’s ongoing celebration of the Speedmaster’s enduring story and reaffirms Dubai’s place as a central hub for the brand in the region.
