Saudi Arabia and the UAE already use the under-$10 Amazon Bazaar, which incorporates gamified features.
Qatar is among the 14 markets in which Amazon has rolled out its standalone budget shopping app, Amazon Bazaar, marking a significant expansion of the e-commerce giant’s strategy to compete with ultra-low-cost rivals like Temu and Shein.
The new app, featuring hundreds of thousands of products—most priced under $10—launched simultaneously across Argentina, Hong Kong, Nigeria, Qatar, and 10 other markets, with additional countries expected in coming months. Shoppers can browse fashion, home goods, and lifestyle items, enjoying free shipping on orders meeting local minimums. Standard delivery typically takes about two weeks.
Despite the new name, Bazaar is essentially a rebranded version of Amazon Haul, the Temu-like shopping experience Amazon introduced in November 2024. The company says “Bazaar” better resonates with local languages and cultural preferences in certain regions. The platform operates as Haul in eight markets—including the US, UK, Germany, and Japan—while Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE already use the Bazaar branding.
Like its Chinese competitors, Bazaar incorporates gamified features such as social lucky draws and promotional campaigns to drive engagement and purchases.
The expansion reflects Amazon’s broader push into international markets as a growth driver. The company recently announced plans to invest over €2.4 billion ($2.8 billion) in Belgium and the Netherlands alone over the next three years, supporting both retail operations and AWS infrastructure.
By launching a dedicated budget platform, Amazon directly challenges the dominance of Shein, Temu, and TikTok Shop in the value-conscious segment. The strategy allows Amazon to cast a wider net, attracting price-sensitive shoppers without diluting its premium marketplace brand. As competition intensifies in global e-commerce, Amazon’s multi-brand approach positions it to capture consumers across different price points and shopping preferences.
