Virtual outfits from fashion brands Balenciaga, Prada, and Thom Browne will be available for purchase across these stores which are set to launch in Canada, Mexico, Thailand, and the U.S.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared the news during an Instagram Live video with the vice president of fashion partnerships Eva Chen, in which they discussed the company’s vision for the metaverse and avatars and the opportunities they may unlock for brands and businesses.
In a statement, Meta commented, "Earlier this year, we expanded our 3D Meta Avatars beyond VR, rolling them out to Facebook and Messenger—plus Instagram Stories and DMs. And today, we’re introducing the Meta Avatars Store, which will let you customize your avatar even further and be uniquely you."
