Mariam Samy, Senior Manager – Strategy and Insights, Saatch & Saatchi ME #30under30
I was an architect, crafting spaces that told stories.
I was not content with static structures; I yearned for dynamic narratives.
I am a strategist, weaving tales that resonate across mediums.
I am not afraid to venture into new territories and embrace change.
I shall be a seeker of experiences, even if it means getting a little lost along the way.
I shall not be complacent in the ever-evolving landscape.
I like it when plans go out the window, and spontaneity takes over.
I dislike it when people can’t admit they’ve made a mistake—it’s the quickest way to learn!
My biggest ambition is to live a life filled with stories worth telling.
My biggest worry is waking up one day and realizing I played it too safe.
I am most proud of jumping from architecture to marketing, trusting my gut and embracing the unknown.
I am a bit ashamed that I once thought I needed a clear plan for everything (spoiler: I didn’t).
Looking back, probably I should have trusted my instincts a lot sooner.
Looking back, probably I should not have tried to control every outcome; life tends to have better ideas.
It all fell apart when I forced things to go my way instead of letting them flow naturally.
Things made sense when I started listening to what I needed instead of what I wanted.
Eventually things will work out, because every twist in the road has led me somewhere valuable.
Eventually things will not be predictable, but that’s what makes it exciting.
Someone once advised me that “The best stories start when plans go wrong.”
I once advised someone that “Your gut feeling is your strongest compass.”
If I had a superpower, it would be teleportation— One moment I’m in a meeting, and the next I’m watching a sunset in Bali.
My superpower in real life is the ability to find an adventure in the most mundane of days.
The word I use most is “Apparently.”
The word I dislike most is “no.”
This too shall pass — a gentle nudge to take a breath and keep going.
My most treasured passion is riding horses and feeling at one with nature—it’s my happy place.
People should be more open to admitting they don’t have all the answers.
People should be less afraid to pivot and pursue their true passions.
I wish to thank Tahaab Rais for being an incredible mentor and guiding me through my journey.
