Faisal Ghazzawi, part of Brand Ripplr’s talent network, gave his own thoughts on the topic of luxury.
Faisal Ghazzawi, an influencer part of the Brand Ripplr talents, also generously gave his take on the world of luxury. Ghazzawi defines luxury today as something that “can vary depending on individual perspectives. It may encompass exclusivity, quality, craftsmanship, and a sense of indulgence. The typical client of luxury brands may be individuals who value prestige, quality, and unique experiences.” As to his own client, Ghazzawi is clear who he speaks to, that would be “a person who is focused on trends and luxury goods, and they get to experience luxury by getting offered valuable materials that are tangible.”
As for the dupes issue, Ghazzawi thinks that “the concept of "dupe" or purchasing less expensive alternatives that resemble luxury products have become more prevalent, especially among younger consumers. This trend challenges traditional notions of luxury and raises questions about the evolving definition of luxury in modern society.”
The Gen Z issue is certainly on his with mind, Ghazzawi goes “with the rise of Gen Z, there is a shift towards valuing experiences over material possessions. This trend suggests that the future of luxury may be more focused on experiential offerings rather than tangible goods.”
He even elaborates, “the subjective nature of luxury and the influence of branding and perception of consumer behaviour.” Yet, he goes on with his train of thoughts, “in the post-pandemic world, some luxury houses have faced scrutiny for using sweatshop labour despite increasing their prices significantly. This raises ethical concerns and questions about the authenticity and values of luxury brands.”
The issue of aspirational consumers that luxury houses lost is not lost on Ghazzawi, he explains that “the loss of aspirational consumers due to post-pandemic tactics by luxury houses may prompt a re-evaluation of marketing strategies and pricing policies. Balancing profit margins with consumer trust and ethical considerations is crucial in maintaining brand loyalty and attracting new customers.”
