Tamara Kleber, Executive, Biddable Media at Hearts & Science #30under30
I was raised in Germany and Switzerland, lived in the UK, and married into a Moroccan family – I feel incredibly fortunate!
I was not expecting that choosing to pursue my master’s in the UK would lead me to Dubai.
I am German and I thrive on organization and structure, and I am a strict rule-follower.
I am not one to give up easily.
I shall be more optimistic about the future and trust in my own ability to adapt to whatever challenge or opportunity comes my way.
I shall not be too serious about life's twists and turns and take it easy more often.
I like it when things go according to plan, but life (and my husband) have taught me to embrace the unexpected.
I dislike it when things are left unfinished or chaotic.
My biggest ambition is to one day write and publish a book.
My biggest worry is disappointing people I look up to or who are important to me.
I am most proud of my ability to surprise myself with adaptable I am to whatever comes my way.
I am a bit ashamed that I sometimes put too much pressure on myself and overthink what other people might think of me.
Looking back, probably I should have stood up for myself more.
Looking back, probably I should not have overthought things so much, as life does not need to follow a perfect plan to be a happy one.
It all fell apart when we had to put down our 16-year-old family cat.
Things made sense when I realized that I do not have to take on all the responsibility all the time.
Eventually things will align in a way that they are meant to. I believe that everything will be okay in the end, and if it is not okay yet, it is not the end.
Eventually things will not go according to plan, and that is okay.
Someone once advised me that mistakes are inevitable and should be embraced; the key is to always aim to fail better each time.
I once advised someone that we should take a step back and look at the bigger picture more often to see the progress we have made and how far we have come.
If I had a superpower, it would be the ability to teleport - Sunday afternoon with my family in Switzerland but be back in Dubai for dinner.
My superpower in real life is staying organized and structured.
The word I use most is “Yes” (although “no” does come in handy sometimes.
The word is dislike most is “later” as it feels too vague.
This too shall pass is my reminder that nothing in life is as persistent as change and that there is always a silver lining.
My most treasured passion is cooking.
People should be more present and less captivated by their phones.
People should be less afraid of change and our differences.
I wish to thank my husband who constantly challenges and supports me, and my family who always believes in me and stands by my side, even when we are hundreds of kilometers apart.
