The changing media landscape in Saudi Arabia was the issue addressed at a workshop for Mobily, the KSA telecom network, which was held in Riyadh recently. Organized by media agency Initiative KSA, the event shared the latest developments in digital buying and mobile usage from a user perspective.
Mobily presented the findings of its recent research into mobile usage, which tracked and analyzed the emergent trends in this ever-evolving media platform.
“The latest research we conducted showed that customers are increasingly making purchase decisions online, with smartphones being used to facilitate these transactions,” says Faysal Zok, managing director at Initiative KSA.
The research presented to Mobily took place across the pan-Arab region and revealed that Saudi Arabia had a very high number of early adopters who readily embraced nascent technology on the market. The study also showed that Saudi Arabian consumers were the keenest online shoppers, with 40 percent of smartphone users in the country purchasing goods and services from home. However, it also revealed that there are few reliable mobile shopping websites or payment applications in these markets.
