Dubai-based branding and advertising firm Elephant Nation’s digital arm, Elephant Digital Media has announced that it will launch the Watch your Food app for the Apple Watch. Developed with Circle Café, the app will be the UAE’s first real-time home delivery tracking app to be designed specifically for Apple watch. It is expected to be available by July 2015.
The app provides Circle Café customers with complete details on each step of the delivery, from the moment a customer places an order until it has been delivered. The newly developed app allows customers to not only check the status of their order, but also follow the delivery of their meals right to their doorstep. This gives diners complete insight into where their orders are in the preparation and delivery process. What made the agency and brand think of a smart watch app at a time when brands are still struggling to get mobile apps right? “The way the global market is moving digitally makes it important for us to try and cope with it and maybe try and be an initiators rather than followers. We wanted a partner to develop Apple Watch app with, and Circle cafe was a great partner for this,” says Nooruldeen A Arif, managing director, Elephant Digital Media, in a press statement.
To use the app, Circle Café customers will need to place an order through the website or the mobile app on their computers or smartphones. Once the order has been placed, real-time delivery updates will be sent to the users Apple watch notifying them about the status and whereabouts of their food every step of the way. One might wonder why the app doesn’t allow for users to place their order through the Apple Watch. “Since what you are ordering is food, it will be very hard to put all the options in that tiny screen and be practical at the same time. New technology will be cool if it is simple and easy to use and adds value to the user,” explains Arid.
Watch Your Food is available for Android and iOS users and anyone ordering from Circle Café. The mobile app can be downloaded from the Apple’s App Store at www.apple.com. Although currently the app is only for the Apple Watch, based on user feedback the agency plans to launch it across Android smart watches as well.
