Passion is the fuel that drives creativity and innovation. Finding and keeping that spark can be difficult especially when you work in the marketing industry. One day you’re buzzing with energy and ideas and are willing to go above and beyond the call of duty, the next day, however, you feel like your passion has withered and you wonder how to get that creativity and enthusiasm back.
Here are some tips to revive your passion toward your work:
1. Get to know your manager
Try to engage with your manager in non-work related topics and try to get to know them. Studies have shown that employees are keen to work harder for a manager they know better on a personal level.
2. Give yourself incentives
Although it feels great to get the sense of validation from your manager and coworkers, do not wait until they give it to you. You can celebrate your successes by finding a way to reward yourself after completing a certain task. Celebrating these small successes can help you recognize what you are doing right.
3. Be there in all the company’s celebrations
Whether it’s a company lunch or commitment to celebrating birthdays or engagements, these events provide the opportunity to interact on a more personal level with your coworkers. They also serve as a great opportunity for boosting camaraderie and engagement levels at work. Over 87 percent of professional respondents say that they have a healthy connection with their colleagues at work.
4. Build new skill sets
Learning a new skill is a great way to feel inspired again. It also makes you a more valuable employee. Whether you read a new book, browse industry blogs, take an online course, or simply ask more questions on the job, find a way to keep enriching your knowledge base.
5. Listen.
Talking honestly with your friends and family about your job and listening to their takes on the situation you are in is a much-needed reality check.
6. Take a vacation.
More than half of the respondents in our recent poll said that travelling relaxes them and puts then in a better mood. You do not need to go half way around the globe to relax; you can simply take a few days off and these days can do magic.
7. Surround yourself with positive people. The people around you play a huge role on how you are feeling. If you find yourself surrounded by negative friends and coworkers who continually drag you down, it is critical that you turn around and look for more positive people. Go out with your funniest friends, try volunteering, and fill your life with positive influences.
