The German car manufacturer, will stop the production of the beloved Beetle.
Since its commercial production during the 1940’s, the Beetle has always been one of the most famous cars in history. Designed as “the people’s car” , the German car was marketed as an affordable, economy car that earned its name from consumers worldwide.
Volkswagen launched the New Beetle in 1997, with a second-generation model following in 2011. But recently Volkswagen, made plans to invest further into Buzz ID, which is Volkswagen’s electric out-take on the famous Volkswagen micro bus concept instead of trying to revive the famous Beetle.
This is not the first time Volkswagen decides to stop the production of the Beetle. Volkswagen ended the production of the car in 2003 and brought it back in 2011.
In a statement Frank Welsch, head of technical development at Volkswagen said, “Two or three generations is enough now, [The Beetle was] made with history in mind but you can’t do it five times and have a new new new Beetle.”
