Game of Thrones takes over Lebanese brands

This won’t come as a surprise… Lebanese brands (as many labels across the world, from sodas to sneakers, makeup and beer, sometimes in pretty creative ways) are riding the Game of Thrones’ craze hard, albeit at the last minute… and not necessarily abiding by copyright regulations, we might wonder.

Although the general public – namely proud fan of the show Ziad Timrawi and his pal Ziad, who hung up banners supporting the King in the North in the streets of the capital – has been voicing its enthusiasm for a while, brands have been slower to join the party. Most of the work plays on taglines and iconic visuals and is shared on social platforms.

Some brands are long-time partners of the show and are implementing global campaigns locally, such as Burger King’s Game of Crowns (a play on words to Game of Thrones) stunt and Johnny Walker’s White Walker ad. Germany-based XXL Energy Drink, on the other hand, went for sobering posters.

Others, however, are decidedly local.
