The consumer-voted award, Product of the Year, established in 1987 in France to showcase a market’s best products and reward innovative manufacturers, held its ninth ceremony night for the MENA region on March 27 at the Music Hall, Downtown Beirut.
Some 170 attendees, including marketeers, agency people and media, attended the event that, on top of the awards, included fine dining and a live music show.
A total of 19 awards were handed to a variety of products and brands across categories as diverse as snacks, hygienic tissue paper, dish washing and laundry color protector, among others.
Notably, POY Lebanon accepted for the first time submissions from the service sector, opening up to entries from banks, online players and even public services. Interestingly, LibanPost and Touch both walked away with two awards each: LibanPost for its General Security Services and Car Service Pack; and Touch for its mobile app and its Student Plan. Khoury Home grabbed metal for its K-Store e-commerce website; SGBL was awarded for its Super Rewards Cards Loyalty Program; while Gray Mackenzie Retail’s Spinneys Loyalty
Out of 19 awards, seven were handed to this new category of entrants, which illustrates well the evolution of business in Lebanon. “We are so proud to introduce the award to the service sector this year, a sector which continues to innovate in Lebanon despite all challenges,” says Zeina Estwany, business director at Product of the Year ME.
