Darwazah Startup Accelerate Demo Day, organized by the Darwazah Center for Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship, wrapped up yesterday, April 17. This student innovation contest was launched in 2013 for all AUB undergrads.
At the end of a day of conferences, eight finalist teams were given the chance to pitch their ideas in five minutes. The results were announced immediately, with two winners awarded 10,000 USD each.
- EyeMate, an artificial intelligence (AI) service for coffee shops that registers orders using face recognition technology. The concept aims to shorten long waiting linesdue to complex, customized orders.
- Live.Love.Recycle, a recycling initiative initiated in 2015 to promote recycling affordably.
Eyemate’s young team representative George Bassil explained that winning the award prize will help them kick-start their service, which will hopefully be active in Lebanon in a year.
